First Day of School!

Wednesday August 12th, 2009- The first day of school!

Becca is in 5th grade with Mrs. Sanchez
Emily is in 3rd grade with Mrs. Klassen and
Aaron is in all day Kindergarten with Mrs. Gooch.

One nice thing about this year is that Becca had both Aaron and Emily's teachers in the past. Becca thought that was really cool.









They are enjoying every minute of school......(and so am I).

Wicked!

Here is the group that went with us to WICKED.

Susan, Paul, Carrie, Brooke, Grandma Powell, Joni, Scott, Kevin, Stacy, Brady and me. We had a blast!

Once we got there, I found my brother Dj and his girlfriend Kelsey. (aren't they cute)

Happy B-day 7-11 "Free Slurpee Day"

Slurpee has declared the 11th of July to be the Free Slurpee Day across the nation. Emily's school teacher told her about 7-11's birthday when she was still in school. We (really Emily) have been counting down the days to go get a free small Slurpee.





Thanks 7-11 for the cool, tasty, treat.

Room Camping

This is what you do when it is 103* outside when the sun goes down. You camp not in the back yard, but in the living room.

Try this, and your kids will think you are very cool parents.

They are pooped from a long day of swimming.

4th of July -SLIP&SLIDE

Here are some pics of the kids on the 4th in Pima. Uncle Nick made a slip & slide for them to play on. Carrie & Paul played too. They had so much fun.

Zucchini

My sis-in-law Amber (Gary's wife) did a post all about zucchini recipes. Here is a link to her blog www.amberngary.blogspot.com

I know how she feels with too much zucchini, so I thought I would add to her collection of zucchini recipes. Enjoy

Zucchini Chowder-

Sauté in a large pot:

1/3 C. Butter

2 medium zucchini chopped into bite size

1 medium onion chopped

2 Tbl. Fresh Parsley (or 1 T. dry parsley)

1 tsp. Basil

Add:

1 tsp. Salt

1/4 tsp. Pepper

1/3 C. flour (make sure the flour gets fully cooked before continuing)

Pour in:

3 C. Water

3 Chicken bouillon cubes

Bring to a boil

Reduce heat and add:

1 tsp. Lemon Juice

1 can diced tomatoes (don’t drain)

1 can evaporated milk

Frozen corn (to your liking, I do one cup, my sister does a whole bag)

1/4 C. Parmesan Cheese

2 C. Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Enjoy!

It is really good for lunch the next day too.

Drive-in Movies

It's just not summer if you don't go to the drive-in (at least that's what I say). If you go on Tuesday's its family night and kids get in for a dollar. We went and watched the Pixar movie "Up" it was such a cute movie.













Hands up if you're having fun! We popped 2 big paper bags full of popcorn and brought soda and candy. How could you not have fun.
(Brady was at scout camp, so he missed the fun)

It looks like Aaron is really enjoying himself in the back of Uncle Gary's truck.
